Have you ever wondered how a facelift was performed?
The Charleston Custom Lift is exactly that: custom! Every patient is different and we here at Thomas Funcik M.D. take that very seriously.

Many doctors perform facelifts by just lifting and tightening the skin. These techniques seem enticing but many of these results are unimpressive, un-natural “wind blown look”, that do not last.
Dr. Funcik’s unique technique goes above and beyond just tightening skin to create the appearance of a lift. This technique requires skills, experience, artistic eye and time.
When patients age they not only have skin sagging, but the muscles of the face begin to fall “droop” down. They must be repositioned an anatomical position in order to look natural.
Skin is a covering structure that is quite elastic, not supportive. At first the nicely taut, pulled skin gives the appearance of a lift, but after a short amount of time the skin begins to sag again. With Dr. Funcik’s approach he tightens the SMAS (SMAS is the superficial musculoaponeurotic system.) is dissected and places it where he sees the most beneficial and natural tightening result. The smas is a stronger less elastic material that gives a longer lasting result and more natural result. The SMAS is the support for the facelift.
Therefore there is no tension on the skin (avoiding the wind blown look), and creates fine scars and lasting results!
